The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has given Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan till February 7 to submit tax liabilities in the foreign properties case, a local news outlet reported on Monday.

The premier’s sister had purchased an apartment in Dubai worth over 2,878,000 dirhams. The revenue board later imposed a fine and tax worth Rs29.4 million against her. Aleema now has to submit tax of Rs22.1 million for concealing those properties. She had also asked FBR to break down the sum into installments.

In an affidavit submitted to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Aleema had claimed that she owned a property — namely Lofts East 1406 — in Dubai and that it was paid from the funds generated from her business dealings overseas. According to prime minister’s sister, she purchased the property worth $370,000 in 2008 with 50 per cent bank mortgage but sold it out in 2017.
