Rain, snowfall likely this week: Met Office

KARACHI: Met Office informed on Sunday that rain and snowfall are expected from Monday to Wednesday in various parts of the country.

“A westerly wave is likely to enter western parts of the country on Monday, which is likely to grip different parts on Tuesday and may persist till Wednesday,” it said.

The Met Office further informed that under the influence of this weather system, widespread rain-thunderstorm with few moderate to isolated heavy falls is expected in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan& Kohat divisions), Northeast Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions), Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir from Tuesday to Wednesday night. Snowfall over hills is also expected in Malakand division (Swat, Chitral, Kalam, Malamjabba & upper Dir), Hazara division, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the period.

Rain-thunderstorm is expected at scattered places in Lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Bannu, DI Khan divisions) and Punjab (Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan & Sahiwal divisions) on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places in Balochistan’s Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Makran divisions on Monday and Tuesday while light rain is also expected at isolated places in Upper Sindh’s Sukkur, Larkana divisions on Tuesday and Wednesday.
