Govt to appoint Fakhar Imam as Kashmir Committee chairman

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to appoint Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fakhar Imam as the chairman of the Parliamentary Special Committee on Kashmir.

He will be replacing Maulana Fazalur Rehman who has been heading the committee since 2008.

According to reports, a notification in this regard will be issued within the upcoming week.

MNA Fakhar Imam is currently a member of the Shehbaz Sharif-led Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and has earlier served as a speaker of the National Assembly.

Fakhar’s wife Begum Abida Hussain too is a senior politician and has served as a minister in the cabinet of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
