MUSCAT: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi claimed on Friday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government will make Pakistan a prosperous, developed and stable country in five years.

Qureshi was addressing a gathering of overseas Pakistanis in Oman as he assured that the government is working on the agenda of change as promised with the nation and will put the country on the path of development through its “prudent” economic measures.

He asserted that overseas Pakistanis are playing a vital role in the development of the country by sending remittances through banking channels.

He also shed light upon the policy of Prime Minister Imran Khan to develop friendly relations with all neighbouring countries and asserted that Pakistan is playing a commendable rule in establishing peace and stability in the Afghan region by supporting dialogue between Taliban and the USA.

Moreover, the foreign minister said that his government wanted a good relationship with India.

On Thursday, Qureshi had held a meeting with his Omani counterpart Yusuf bin Alawi at the Foreign Office of Oman where Shah extended his invitation to the Omani leader to visit Pakistan.

The foreign ministers exchanged views on the latest situation of the region and also reviewed methods to increase mutual cooperation between both sides.

Earlier on Monday, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi arrived in Muscat, Oman on a two-day visit to the country.

Talking to media in Islamabad prior to his departure for Oman, the foreign minister claimed that Oman is an important regional country, and Pakistan and Oman enjoy long-term and friendly relations.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan will continue its positive role for regional peace and stability. He said that he will take the Omani leadership into confidence regarding the situation in Afghanistan.
