LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar on Thursday said complaints within a party or coalition were a part of the democratic process and the grievances of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) would be addressed.
He was referring to speculations about differences between the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its coalition partners in Punjab. Provincial lawmakers of the PML-Q had expressed concerns over some ministers’ attitude.
Speaking to media persons at the Alhamra Arts Council, Sarwar said the government would complete its five-year tenure and denied any possibility of midterm elections in the country.
The governor in an earlier media talk had also dispelled the impression of internal differences and said that the PTI and the PML-Q coalition government had no threat from within as both parties jointly won several seats in the election and were now “complementing each other”.
“The Chaudhrys are seasoned politicians and cannot go for an irresponsible reaction,” he said while responding to a question regarding a PTI federal minister’s statement. He said the minister had already apologised for the “uncalled for statement”.
To another question, Sarwar said one should not interfere in Nawaz Sharif’s matters and the government wasn’t doing so either. “The courts are independent and we will accept any decision they take.”
“I pray for Nawaz that may Allah bless him with good health,” he said further.
