Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s orders of lifting ban imposed on the entry of “maids and servants” in elite clubs will “remove symbols of elitism and colonial mindset”.
“Symbols of Elitism & colonial mindset will be removed. PMIK has ordered to remove the ban on entry of maids/servants in elite clubs i.e. starting from Islamabad club. Rather we should have been thankful to them for carrying our weights. Abolish boundaries made in name of wealth, color etc,” Afridi tweeted.

During a meeting on Tuesday, PM Imran said that discriminatory signboards erected inside elite clubs such as the Islamabad Club or Gymkhana should be removed. The directive was made during a meeting on human rights at the PM Office.
During the meeting, the premier said that bonded labour must be eliminated and authorities should introduce measures in order to educate children belonging to poor families.
