Federal Minister Faisal Vawda has claimed that and FIR is being lodged against the persons allegedly threatening Shahbaz Bukhari, the lawyer in the Sahiwal tragedy case, who complained of being harassed by CTD officers yesterday.

Vawda said that he had spoken to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar who had assured him that all necessary measures would be taken in accordance with the law.

“Just spoke to CM Punjab. FIR soon to be lodged against the guys who are threatening Shahbaz Khalil, the lawyer in Sahiwal incident case who complained of harassment. Justice will be served InshaAllah. CM Punjab assured that all necessary measures will be taken” he tweeted.

According to details, lawyer Syed Shahbaz Bukhari claimed that he was being threatened by a CTD officer over the phone who advised him to stay away from the case. Bukhari also claimed that the “caller” introduced himself as the CTD official and asked him to stand down from the matter. He also played the audio recording of the conversation before the media persons, declaring it a concrete evidence of the CTD’s involvement in hurling serious threats at him.

However, it was later discovered that the caller was not a CTD official when the police force investigated the phone call. The calls were traced to a practicing medic, Dr Hamayun Taimoor.  “Dr Taimoor is resident of Askari Complex of Cantonment Board Lahore and he has nothing to do with the CTD,” says a senior CTD official. The CTD has already approached the police in Lahore to arrest the man behind the calls.
