-Senior police officer removed for corruption of Rs1.3billion restored by Sindh govt, claims Haleem Adil Sheikh

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh chapter general secretary and parliamentary leader in Sindh assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh on Tuesday said that the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) is paying lip service to democracy. It is not ready to make the leader of opposition in Sindh assembly the chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC), as it is afraid that their hidden corruption would also be exposed.

According to the details, Haleem Adil Sheikh and PTI Karachi Division President Khurram Sher Zaman while talking to the media outside the Sindh Assembly here on Tuesday criticised the policies of the ruling PPP.

Haleem Adil said that leaders of the PPP pose themselves as the champions of democracy and often quote Bhutto and Benazir. However, he alleged that PPP is following the charter of corruption and is, in fact, fighting PML-N’s battle in the name of the charter of democracy.

He said that in Sindh, the PPP is not ready to give the PAC to the opposition as it is afraid that if Firdous Shamim Naqvi might become the chairman of PAC and their corruption would be exposed. “May I remind everybody that they had adopted a similar attitude to Khuwaja Izharul Haq in the past,” said Haleem Sheikh.

He said that proper healthcare facilities were still not present in Thar because of which 63 children have died this month already, yet the rulers of Sindh are not ready to hand over the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) to the federal government. “I am ready to show the media how hospitals under them are being run. The students of Khairpur medical university are perplexed because their degrees are not recognised by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC),” he added.

“Similarly, the faculty in Khairpur University is not complete and the 285 candidates who have passed the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) exam for the post of law inspector are still running from pillar to post,” he further added.

Haleem Adil said that a senior officer was removed from his post for corruption of Rs1.3billion and now he has not only been restored but is also doing an important assignment. “How can things improve if this is how the rulers of Sindh work?” he asked.

He said that the PAC in KP is headed by assembly speaker who does not belong to any party and is neutral. “There are a few minor reservations of MQM and these things are normal and would improve with the passage of time,” the PTI leader added.

Furthermore, Khurram Sher Zaman congratulated the nation regarding the news that the petition against Zardari is approved for hearing.

He said that the public should not forget Zardari’s past performance and their grievances with the PPP leader for how things were run, adding that there was a reason behind the PPP leader being called Mr Ten Per Cent.

To a question, he replied: “We went to the Supreme Court (SC) due to the nature of the case and on the instruction of the apex court, we went to a lower forum”.
