Catering for orphans, needy and special persons our collective responsibility: NA speaker

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser has said that caring for special persons, orphans and needy people is everyone’s responsibility and the government is taking steps in this regard to play its part to ensure that these people are cared for.

He expressed these views while talking to Deaf Reach Education Service Founder Richard Geary who had called on him here on Monday.

Asad Qaiser said that special villages would be established across the country for the provision of education, healthcare and other facilities to these people.

He stressed that welfare organisations, philanthropists and Baitulmal should extend cooperation to fulfil the needs of these villages. He said the rehabilitation and bringing the positive changes in the lives of deprived and needy people is the foremost priority of the incumbent government.

He also expressed his desire for establishing the school for deaf people in Swabi on the pattern of Rashidabad and sought the guidance of Richard Geary.

He also said that he would announce the establishment of a consortium consisting of all individuals and welfare organisations who are working for the betterment of these people within the next few days. “This consortium will help to devise a future plan and strategy for serving these special people,” he said.

In response, Richard Geary expressed deep gratitude for the passion of the Speaker and assured every possible support in this regard.
