The Karachi police Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Sunday captured and arrested an absconding criminal who was on the loose after having murdered three witnesses to another murder he had committed earlier while seizing a Kalashnikov rifle and a hand grenade from the criminal’s possession

“The suspect, Ali Akbar alias Zafarullah, was apprehended after the CTD received a tip-off regarding his whereabouts,” said CTD SSP Murtaza Bhutto.

“The convict had previously ‘confessed’ to killing six people in Balochistan,” he added.

According to the details, Ali Akbar had murdered a man, Usman Umrani, in Kalat city over a petty rivalry in 2004 and since the killing was witnessed by three other men, he soon went after them and gunned them down as well.

He then fled the scene and in 2005, Ali Akbar murdered two more citizens, Mohammed Umer and Sardar Hub Khan Umrani.

“After his subsequent arrest, a local court in Balochistan had awarded him with the death sentence for the killings,” the officer told.

The criminal will be handed to the Balochistan government after completing the necessary legalities.
