Families of miners missing in Kohistan snowfall appeal to govt for help

SUPAT VALLEY: Six labourers who had embarked on a journey to collect precious peridot stones in Supat Valley of Kohistan have been missing for the past week due to heavy snowfall in the area.

Speaking to a local media outlet, a cousin of one of the missing miners, Noor Niazi, said that the families of the miners do not any idea of the whereabouts of their loved ones for one week and that the area where the missing men were last seen is currently inaccessible as snowfall is at least 15 feet deep.

Noor and other concerned family members of the missing men appealed to the government for help by the provision of adequate rescue services.

They urged for a rescue mission to retrieve the lost miners via helicopters.
