Explosion in volleyball ground leaves five dead in Afghan province


KABUL: At least five people were killed in an IED explosion at a local sports ground in Tala Wa Barfak district in northern Baghlan province on Friday evening, a senior local official confirmed.

The Tala Wa Barfak District Governor Abdul Ahad Ahmadi said the locals were playing volleyball at the time of the explosion.

Giving more details on the incident, Ahmadi said the blast happened in a village under Taliban control.

He added among those killed were four Taliban members and one civilian.

According to him, at least 20 others were wounded in the incident.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident. Taliban has not commented on the claims which say four members of the group were killed in the attack.
