Private schools protest against non-issuance of certificates

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Education Department has reportedly stopped issuing certificates for the opening of new private schools in the city which resulted in a strong protest by private schools’ association.

According to media reports, these schools were approved during the period from September to November, last year. The refusal to issue certificates has adversely affected the new admissions in these schools, they added.

All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association has voiced strong protest over withholding the certificates besides calling for an immediate transfer of the respective Deputy Education Officer (DEO) Shafqatur Rehman.

The members of district registration authority and president Ibrar Hussain, Furqan Chaudhry and Amir Anwar have alleged that the respective DEO is harassing the owners of private schools.

They also announced that no owner of private schools will pay any amount for obtaining certificates. The delegation will meet commissioner and deputy commissioner in this regard.

Shafqatur Rehman is yet to comment on this issue.
