The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has temporarily lifted the bans on Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul, pending an inquiry from an ombudsman, which is yet to be appointed, ICC reported.

The duo were handed suspensions after making controversial comments on a TV show prior to the ODI leg of India’s tour of Australia.

However, Pandya and Rahul may now feature in the last two one-day internationals and the Twenty20 series against New Zealand, with India skipper Virat Kohli rested for those games.

“The suspension orders dated 11.01.2019 is immediately lifted pending appointment and adjudication of the allegations by the BCCI Ombudsman,” the BCCI said in a statement on Thursday, 24 January.

Pandya last represented India in the Asia Cup when India took on Pakistan in September 2018. Rahul, on the other hand, played his last international fixture on 9 January, when India locked horns with Australia in the Sydney Test.
