KARACHI: The Sindh Police has set aside a “marriage grant” of Rs50,000 for its unmarried personnel which can be availed by any police worker on their first marriage.
Welfare Board, headed by Sindh Police chief Kaleem Imam, issued these directions in a meeting convened to review relief measures for the law enforcement agents.
According to Welfare Additional Inspector General Dr Rizwan Ahmed Khan, around 20,000 out of 115,000 members of the police force are unmarried.
Moreover, the conditions to avail of the facility have also been relaxed.
The board has waived off the rule of submission of Original Marriage Registration Certificate (Nikah Nama) in order to claim the grant. However, it must be submitted along with an attested copy within a month.
A serving officer will also need to provide his service information and wedding invitation card.
Moreover, the board has also approved the proposal for marriage grant for two children of deceased personnel. Previously, only the serving personnel were allowed to claim a grant of Rs 10,000 for the marriage of only one child.
