Multan Sultans replace Andre Russell with injured Steve Smith

LAHORE: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises on Thursday announced replacements for the fourth edition of the celebrated league.

Multan Sultans, now owned by Ali Tareen, replaced injured Steve Smith with West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell and James Vince with Joe Denly.

Peshawar Zalmi replaced Afghanistan’s Waqar Salamkheil with West Indian batsman Andre Fletcher while Quetta Gladiators have chosen West Indian Dwayne Smith as a substitute to his fellow Windies all-rounder DJ Bravo, who will join his team on Feb 27.

Fawad Rana-owned Lahore Qalandars have picked Hardus Viljoen and David Wiese who can be brought in to cover for the partial availability of AB de Villiers, Carlos Brathwaite and Corey Anderson.

In their squad expansion announcement, Lahore Qalandars chose middle-order batsman Saad Ali and Multan Sultans picked all-rounder Hammad Azam.

Mohammad Irfan Jr went to Quetta Gladiators and left-arm spinner Umer Khan was picked by Karachi Kings.

Defending champions Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi are yet to submit their squad expansion picks.

Earlier, the player draft for the fourth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) took place on November 20 in Islamabad, following which a replacement was announced to be held on January 24.

PSL 4 will begin from February 14.
