— Maryam Nawaz criticises authorities for ‘sitting on medical boards’ reports’
LAHORE: Incarcerated former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s personal physician, Dr Adnan, said on Wednesday that the deposed premier’s health is “at risk” if he is not hospitalised.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader’s doctor claims that in its recommendations, a medical board comprising doctors from Jinnah Hospital had suggested hospitalising Nawaz due to his condition.
Meanwhile, Nawaz’s daughter Maryam took to Twitter criticise that “authorities sat on the reports compiled by the govt constituted boards and the recommendation that he needs to hospitalised was conveniently concealed and overlooked”.
Thank you Asad sb. What is shocking is that authorities sat on the reports compiled by the govt constituted boards & the recommendation that he needs to be hospitalised was conveniently concealed & overlooked. https://t.co/4ZGkX1Da6a

She was responding to a tweet by analyst Asad Munir who said: “Nawaz Sharif is not well, the three-time PM has done a lot for this country should be provided the best available medical facilities.”
“Sending him abroad for treatment be considered,” he claimed.

Later in the day, responding to reports claiming that Nawaz had a cardiac attack in prison, Maryam said, “This is not entirely untrue. He has had multiple episodes in the last few days which he has been treating with sublingual sprays & tablets. They took him back to jail yesterday, conveniently turning a blind eye to the recommendations of the doctors and boards.”

“There is no way I can get in touch with him to verify. I kept trying the whole day,” she regretted and revealed that “three independent medical boards with top specialists on them constituted by the government itself have all examined him [Nawaz] & raised the alarm.”
This is what I came to know when i last spoke to him. There is no way I can get in touch with him to verify. I kept trying the whole day. https://t.co/6dz8NugOSb

A day after reports emerged that Nawaz is unwell; the former prime minister was brought to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) in Lahore on Tuesday amid tight security.
In a tweet on Monday, Maryam had informed that her father, who remains incarcerated at Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Prison, was unwell but the family was being kept in the dark about his medical condition.
Her statement came two days after she criticised the authorities for not releasing medical reports of her father.
Nawaz was earlier advised to get additional tests done by his personal doctor in a bid to ascertain reasons for the chest pain he has been going through.
The ousted premier has been behind the bars in Kot Lakhpat Prison since December 24, 2018, after an accountability court convicted him in a corruption reference filed in line with the apex court’s July 28, 2017 verdict.
