LHC accepts Shehbaz’s bail plea for hearing in Ashiana, Ramzan sugar mills cases

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday said that a bail plea filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif in Ashiana Housing case and Ramzan Sugar Mills is admissible.

The LHC also directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to submit relevant records at the earliest.

The former Punjab chief minister had previously argued before the court that cases lodges against him were politically motivated. Shehbaz had said that his actions were in accordance with the constitution and law.

The PML-N president had urged the court to release him on medical grounds.

NAB arrested the former Punjab chief minister in the Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme scam on October 5. The former chief minister was charged with awarding illegal contracts to his favorite firm.

He was apprehended during his appearance before NAB in the Saaf Pani Company scam.

Shehbaz is also being investigated for his alleged involvement in several cases, including the Saaf Pani scam, Ramzan Sugar Mills case and the Punjab private companies reference.
