IHC directs FIA to continue inquiry against former BISP officer

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered the FIA to continue inquiry in a corruption case in respect of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).

IHC  ordered FIA to continue to hold inquiry against former district General Manager Abida Pathan after the corruption scam surfaced against her.

BISP officer Abida Pathan is facing corruption charges of Rs 22 million.

It is pertinent to mention here that the court had directed FIA to suspend inquiry in 2014 on a petition filed by Abida Pathan.

Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb ordered to abolish interim order for stopping inquiry.

Abida Pathan has remained District General Manager from 2007 to 2013 in BISP. She is alleged to have committed corruption of Rs 22 million.

Counsel for BISP prayed the court that all the money be taken back from her and distributed among affectees.

Abida Pathan had deposited BISP cards money amounting to Rs 22 million in her account.
