Two days after a viral video showed a Punjab police constable claiming the Sahiwal DPO [district police office] was “attempting to get him and his family killed”, a spokesperson of the Sahiwal police stepped up to clarify the situation.
“The video is almost a year old. Constable Naveed Alam has been suspended from the department and currently runs a roadside fruit stall in the Mission Chowk area,” the spokesperson tweeted.

The spokesperson further said that it was regrettable how an old footage was being attributed to incumbent Sahiwal DPO Capt (r) Muhammad Ali Zia.
“My life is in danger because of the evidence I have on me against the Sahiwal DPO,” the constable had said in the undated video making rounds over the internet.

“I will not provide anyone with the evidence I have, but only the officers who look into the matter,” he said and claimed that the DPO was getting his house raided.
The constable went on to appeal to the chief minister and the inspector general (IG) to provide him and his family with security besides arresting his boss.
