ECP restores membership of another seven parliamentarians

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday restored the membership of another seven parliamentarians and allowed them to function as members of national and provincial assemblies on submission of their assets and liabilities’ statements.

According to an ECP official, the parliamentarians, who were suspended over non-submission of their assets details, have now filed their statements and fulfilled the legal requirement in conformance with the relevant election laws.

It is pertinent to mention here that ECP had suspended the membership of 332 national and provincial lawmakers last week.

The parliamentarians who failed to submit their details of assets with the commission included 18 members of Senate, 67 members of National Assembly, 114 members of Punjab Assembly, 52 members of Sindh Assembly, 53 members of KP Assembly and 19 members of the Balochistan Assembly.
