LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday filed a bail petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) through his counsels Azam Nazeer Tarrar and Amjad Pervaiz.

The National Assembly (NA) opposition leader is currently under arrest regarding the Ashiana Iqbal Housing Scheme case.

The federal government and NAB have been made respondents in the plea.

“The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) made a case contrary to the law and arrested me. The case was made on a political basis,” stated the petition.

“Whatever I did was in accordance with the law and Constitution. Not even an inch of official land was given to anyone and LHC should accept my bail plea,” it added.

He has further added that he should also be considered for bail on medical grounds as he is ailing.

The PML-N leader was arrested on October 5, 2018, for his involvement in the Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme case.
