Housemaid killed, thrown into sewage gutter over alleged robbery in Lahore

A housemaid was killed and her dead body was thrown into a sewage gutter in Gulshan-e-Ravi area of Lahore.

According to a post by activist Mehran Saeed, the dead body of Uzma, a minor girl, was found from a sewage gutter, three days after the house owner blamed her of theft.

Sharing the detail of the incident, Saeed wrote: “She is Uzma. She was working as a maid in one of the houses in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Ravi Block Lahore. House owner Miss Mahrukh alleged the girl of theft. Three days later her corpse was found in a gutter.”

Highlighting the plight of her father, the activist further wrote: “Uzma’s father states that “my daughter has been killed for robbery allegations. Neither police are cooperating nor any human rights organisations. I don’t even have a fare to go to Katchehri. How can I pay to the lawyers.”

Discussing the human rights conditions in Pakistan,  the activist said, “One thing is obvious, this is not a welfare state of Madina where poor and rich enjoy the same justice. Human life in Pakistan costs less than a penny”.
