Federal ombudsman to hold awareness seminar in merged districts

PESHAWAR: Federal Ombudsman Secretary Dr Jamal Nasir on Monday said that the ombudsman would hold a seminar in merged districts for general awareness about functioning and responsibilities of the organisation.

He said that the federal ombudsman was giving free of cost immediate and administrative justice while complaints of people were resolved within 60 days.

Talking to the media here at regional Federal Ombudsman office, he informed that 70 thousand cases of litigants were disposed of last year including 1925 cases from Peshawar.

He said 80 per cent of cases were decided on first hearing which was reflecting the excellent performance of the ombudsman and reposing confidence of people on its working.

He informed that 63 per cent cases were decided immediately, adding the people problems in far-flung areas of Karak, Kohat, Swat were being solved at their doorstep.

Senior Advisor Federal Ombudsman Ijaz Qureshi said that people should know about working, aims and objectives of the federal ombudsman so that their problems could be solved as soon as possible.

He said that complaints could easily be registered online, telephonically or via postal.
