–CM Buzdar reviews law and order situation in marathon meeting
–Deputy commissioners, RPOs told to provide relief to people in new guidelines
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar presided over a marathon meeting at the Civil Secretariat here on Monday to review the law and order situation of the province.
The meeting also examined the steps taken for providing relief to the people along with the provision of various facilities of life to them. The chief minister issued guidelines to divisional commissioners and regional police officers (RPOs) for improving the security situation and providing relief to the general public.
Addressing the meeting, CM Buzdar said that the law and order situation of the province should be improved and every possible effort should be made to protect the life and property of the public. He said that Sahiwal incident is tragic and all the sympathies of the Punjab government are with the family of deceased Khalil. The affected family will be fully taken care of, he added.
He said that commissioners and RPOs will have to deliver by working in the field, promising to them that the police and administration will be strengthened by the government.
“You will be fully supported for providing relief to the masses. You should perform your duties with confidence and problems of the people should be solved on priority basis,” he added.
The PTI government has freed the administration and police from political pressures, he said. “We have not done nor will do the same that had been done with the police and the administration in the past.”
CM Buzdar said the incumbent government has provided a free and fair atmosphere to the administration and the police for giving facilities to the masses. The field officers are part of our team and everyone will collectively work to improve the governance standards in the province, he added.
The chief minister admitted that the law and order situation is not satisfactory and it is needed to be improved further. He directed to continue indiscriminate operations against the land grabbers and added that commissioners and RPOs should solve the problems of the people by holding open courts in their respective districts.
The open-door policy should also be implemented in letter and spirit, he said.
He directed that field situation should be personally monitored by visiting hospitals and educational institutions and added that steps should also be taken for bringing required improvements.
He added that a ban was imposed on postings and transfers. “The police should adopt a public-friendly attitude as ‘all-is-good’ report will not help now,” he argued.
The chief minister said the recruitment process in the police department should be completed at the earliest, adding that police will be provided with more resources.
INQUIRY AGAINST DOCTOR:
The chief minister directed an inquiry against the medico-legal doctor for altering the medical report of the murder of a child after molestation in DG Khan. He said that deficiencies in the prosecution system should be removed so that criminals may not evade punishments.
He also sought report about the dispatch of results of samples in Punjab Forensic Science Agency.
CM Buzdar, meanwhile, said mobile medical teams should be deputed to treat the people of Cholistan and provision of solar panels in Cholistan should also be considered to brighten their homes.
Law Minister Raja Basharat, chief secretary, home secretary, police IG, secretaries concerned, divisional commissioners and RPOs attended the meeting.
