HUB: At least 24 passengers died and 15 others were seriously injured when a passenger bus caught fire after colliding with a truck carrying fuel at Bela Cross area on Monday evening.
Head of local Edhi Foundation, Hakeem Lasi, said that some 39 passengers were travelling in the coach which was headed to Panjgur from Karachi. Local police officials stated that 24 dead bodies had already been recovered and 15 injured were shifted to a local civil hospital. Five of the injured were in critical condition but no emergency medical services were present in the hospital. The hospital also lacked ambulances to transport the dead and the injured to Karachi.
Due to lack of civic facilities in the area, fire brigade could not reach the site of the incident despite the passage of several hours and local residents themselves tried to douse the fire.
In August 2018, at least 18 people, including women and children, died in a similar collision between a passenger bus and a tanker.
