ISLAMABAD: Special Judge Central Kamran Basharat Mufti on Friday adjourned the hearing of a case pertaining to financial embezzlement by former Pakistan Television (PTV) MD Dr Shahid Masood.
The anchorperson will be indicted in the case in the next hearing which has been fixed for
February 1. The FIA court judge had already dismissed the objections raised by the counsels for Shahid Masood regarding the sections which were wrongly imposed against the anchorperson.
During the hearing, the defence counsel Shah Khawar urged the court that they were filling an appeal in Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the dismissal of objections by the central court and prayed for more time for indictment till the decision over such appeal by the IHC.
The court, after listening to the defence counsel, approved the request and adjourned the hearing.
Dr Shahid Masood was arrested by the FIA on December 23, 2018, in the case of his alleged involvement in the financial embezzlement in PTV during his tenure as the MD and chairman of the state-run television.
