Maryam, PML-N leaders meet Nawaz at Koth Lakhpat jail

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Maryam Nawaz and daughter of Nawaz Sharif came out Kot Lakhpat Jail after met Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif .INP

LAHORE: Members of Sharif family and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders met former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at the Koth Lakhpat Jail on Thursday.

Sons of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Abdul Qadir and Ali Haider Gilani, also briefly met with Nawaz during the visiting hours.

Nawaz’s mother, Begum Shamim Akhtar, daughter Maryam Nawaz, son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar, Hamza Shehbaz and other close relatives were greeted with flower petals and passionate slogans from the party workers on their arrival at the jail vicinity.

On the occasion, Maryam expressed her gratitude to the workers for their support.

Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Tehmina Daultana, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Ameer Muqam, Saleem Zia, Anjum Aqeel, Tariq Fazl Chaudhry, Mian Marghoob, Lahore Mayor Mubasher Javed and PM Azad Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider visited the party leader.

A heavy contigent of police personnel were deployed at the Koth Lakhpat Jail to avoid any unforeseen law and order issue.

An accountability court awarded seven-year sentence to Nawaz in Al-Azizia steel mill case.

Meanwhile, the Sharif family filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking removal of their names from no-fly list.

Nawaz, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (r) Muhammad Safdar have approached the LHC in this regard. Lawyer Amir Zaheer stated in the application that there was on rationale to put his clients’ names on the ECL.

“It is illegal to ban any citizen from travel, we request LHC to remove the names of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Muhammad Safdar from the ECL,” the application reads.
