LAHORE: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) released the much-awaited anthem “Khel Deewano Ka” for the fourth edition on Friday.

Sung and performed by Fawad Khan, the PSL 2019 anthem is already generating hits on YouTube.

The announcement to launch PSL 4 anthem was made on the official Twitter handle.

Responding to the fans’ queries on why he didn’t render his vocals to this season’s PSL anthem, Zafar said that due to the busy schedule, he could not manage to sing the theme song and had informed the organisers about it.

The popular singer has sung anthems of the last three PSL editions.

He said that the PSL is a brand now and he is proud to have played a role in its expansion. He said that new faces should now emerge in the field.

The singer said that whatever he will do in future as an artist will be of good quality.

Meanwhile, famous American rapper Pitbull and Euro-Caribbean vocal group Boney M are amongst the star performers of the opening ceremony of the PSL fourth edition.

Scheduled to be staged in Dubai on February 14 at 08:00 pm, the star-studded ceremony will also feature celebrated Pakistani band Junoon, singer-turned-actor Fawad Khan, Coke Studio fame singer Aima Baig and famous composer Shuja Haider.

Following the ceremony, defending champions Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars will take on each other in the first match.

On January 3, the cricket governing body released the teaser of the anthem, titled “Khel Deewano Ka”, for PSL 4 which is scheduled to kick off on February 28.

Aimed to engage cricket fans across the country, the anthem is sung by musician-turned-actor Fawad Khan and is produced by famous composer Shuja Haider whilst the video is directed by Shoaib Akhtar.

The previous anthem “Ab Khel Jamay Ga” was sung by musician-turned-actor Ali Zafar and became a sensation overnight.

This anthem is the first-ever song, since the inauguration of the league in 2016, which is not sung by Ali Zafar.
