Sindh CM will not resign: Ghani

KARACHI: Amid the federal government’s demand for the resignation of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Minister for Local Bodies Saeed Ghani has clarified that Murad Ali Shah “will not resign”.

The statement comes in the background of a Supreme Court’s joint investigation team (JIT) report pertaining to a mega-money laundering scam, following which the federal government placed 172 names, including Shah, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and former president Asif Ali Zardari, on the Exit Control List (ECL).

However, the Supreme Court had ordered the federal cabinet to review their decision of placing names on the no-fly list.

Speaking in a political talk show, senior PPP leader said that Shah will not resign and challenged Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry to “do whatever he [PTI] wants to do”.

Ghani also dismissed the reports of PPP leaders being in contact with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to overthrow the provincial government and said that “not a single PPP member” has contacted the ruling party. He went on to boast that PPP can overthrow the federal government “with little effort”.
