KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday sought a progress report from Sindh Police and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) pertaining to cases regarding the recovery of missing persons.

A two-member bench of the SHC, while hearing the pleas regarding the non-recovery of more than 60 citizens, remarked that there has not been any information on the missing men despite the passage of years.

The bench asked the police when it would take steps for the recovery of missing persons and directed to make extra efforts for their recovery in addition to a documental inquiry.

Wife of a missing Mumtaz Hussain stated before the court that her husband has been missing since January 2018.  “Five Joint Investigation Teams (JITs) were formed in a year but my husband was not recovered,” she said.

“My son has refused to get married until his father is recovered,” she told the court, adding that her children are disappointed about their future.

The bench sought replies from the Federal government and other respondents regarding the recovery of Mumtaz Hussain.
