SHC orders NAB to submit details regarding ongoing inquiries in Karachi, other Sindh cities

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to submit details regarding inquiries the anti-graft body is pursuing in Karachi, Sukkur and Hyderabad.

During the hearing on Wednesday, SHC Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh reprimanded NAB’s investigation officer and the prosecutor, observing how they did not satisfy the court’s requirements over the inquiries currently underway.

“Several inquiries are under way,” NAB’s prosecutor answered after the SHC’s top judge inquired about the number of inquiries.

“Give a statement regarding the number of inquiries that are ongoing. Some inquiries have been ongoing for the past two years. We will summon Sindh DG NAB,” SHC CJ Shiekh remarked.

“You are quick to drag people’s names through the mud but cannot finish inquiries even in two years. You come to court without reading cases, this will no longer go on. Submit details regarding all inquiries.”

The anti-graft body was then directed to submit details of inquiries in Karachi, Sukkur and Hyderabad.
