LAHORE: Farmers have called off protests in front of the Punjab Assembly, demanding subsidy over gas, electricity and fertilizer.
According to details, farmers on Wednesday demonstrated on the Mall amidst cold weather.
Farmers, who gathered from across the province, demanded that tariff on fertilizers, electricity and water be lowered.
“Potatoes are being sold at Rs4 per kg, despite the production cost being Rs9 per kg,” they said while demanding that “the price should be increased to Rs12 per kg”.
Protesters stated that the protests will be resumed if their demands are not met. They also threatened to demonstrate in the federal capital in case of a lack of progress.
