A video of former military dictator General (r) Pervez Musharraf that initially went unnoticed when it was leaked earlier last year, is again making rounds on the social media.

The video shows Musharraf interacting with members of the US Congress and a number of senators.

“Frankly, here I feel the senators and congressmen are too involved in what we call in the army minor tactics ‘that we gave you $10 billion, tell us what you did?’.

“So I tell them, ‘We bought 18 guns, we bought 24 tanks’.”

“For heavens sake, we used that money,” says Musharraf.

“I reduced poverty from 34 per cent to 17 per cent,” he adds.

“Why do you think Americans care about that?” an unidentified US representative asks.

“Look I don’t think any member of Congress voted for a nickel out of the $20 billion because of your economy or the poverty,” he adds.

“I mean we let the whole continent of Africa go. Americans generally don’t pay attention to that.”

“They didn’t care about it. Okay?”

“What they all want to hear is ‘what do we have to change so that our money is used in a positive way’ to protect Americans from terrorism, radical Islam, from Al-Qaeda. Who’s gonna do that for us?”

In response, Musharraf says “All I’m saying is, I have certain credentials from the past. I need to come (to power) again, and I need to be supported.”

“Not overtly, but in a covert manner. So that we win again,” he adds.
