Two ‘terrorists’ killed in CTD encounter

FAISALABAD/BAHAWALPUR: Two suspected terrorists were killed by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel in Faisalabad, a CTD spokesperson said Tuesday.

According to the details, CTD carried out a search operation in Faisalabad and Bahawalpur on Monday night.

During the operation in Faisalabad, a CTD team conducted a raid on a terrorist hideout. The terrorists opened fire upon spotting CTD officials, following which two of them were killed in retaliatory firing.

According to the spokesperson, the suspected terrorists were identified as Adeel and Usman, who were involved in the kidnapping of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani’s son Ali Haider Gillani, a US citizen and other serious criminal acts.

The suspects were also accused of killing two policemen in Faisalabad’s D Ground, the spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, three terrorists identified as Samiullah, Muhammad Shair and Shah Wali of a banned outfit were held during the search operation in Bahawalpur. Suicide jackets, weapons and explosives were also recovered from their possession.
