New plea filed in IHC against Shehbaz’s PAC chairmanship

ISLAMABAD: Another petition has been filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the election of Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Petitioner Riaz Hanif Rahi’s lawyer GM Chaudhry has filed a miscellaneous petition in IHC for further hearing of the case in the court.

The court had reserved its decision on the maintainability of the case on December 31, the petition read.

A division bench of the high court comprising Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani had heard the case.

The petitioner, in the fresh petition, has requested for hearing of the matter under Section 151 for further arguments on the case.

The petitioner pleaded for further hearing of the case for a fair trial.

The high court had reserved its verdict on the appointment of former chief minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif as the chairman of PAC and the decision is yet to be announced.
