NAB produces Saad Rafique for parliamentary proceedings

— Production orders for Saad Rafique and brother Salman Rafique issued by NA, PA speakers, respectively

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique on Tuesday was taken to the Parliament Lodges by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) following the issuance of his production orders by National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser.

The PML-N leader’s residence at Parliament Lodges has been declared as a sub-jail. He attended a meeting of the NA Standing Committee for Law and Justice later in the day.

It was reported that the production orders of Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Salman Rafique were issued by the Speakers of National and Punjab assemblies, respectively.

On Jan 9, PML-N leaders Rana Sanaullah and Marriam Aurangzeb had submitted a request to NA speaker to issue production orders for both party leaders to ensure their presence in the session.

On Jan 8, President Dr Arif Alvi had summoned a session on Jan 14 at 4 pm in the Parliament House. The president summoned the session in the exercise of powers conferred by clause (1) of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, according to a statement by the NA Secretariat.

Former railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique along with his brother Salman Rafique is in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in connection with a probe into the Paragon Housing Society case.
