VIDEO: Multan Sultans reveal new logo

Laced with the colours of southern Punjab, new logo of Multan Sultans, the sixth franchise of Pakistan Super League (PSL), was launched Monday.

“Janoon ki hai yeh nayi pehchaan, naam hai jin ka Mulan Sultans,” the franchise tweeted on its official handle while also sharing a video revealing the new logo.

In December 2018, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen’s son, Ali Tareen, had won the franchise rights for Multan Sultans.

The rights had been awarded for seven years.

According to a tweet by PSL, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had set the reserve price at $5.21 million per year for a period of seven years. “This reserve price has been exceeded by the bid winners.”

The spot for the sixth team was up for grabs after Multan Sultans were disqualified after appearing in just the 2018 edition of the league.

On November 10, the PCB had terminated the agreement which gave franchise rights of Multan Sultans to the Schon Group due to their inability to meet the financial obligations under the PSL agreement.

Fourth edition of the Twenty20 cricket league will kick off with an opening ceremony and match in Dubai on February 14.
