KASHMORE: Various districts of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan were without power for seven hours on Sunday morning as three 747 MegaWatt units tripped. This happened when a 500 KW transformer at the Guddu Thermal Power Plant malfunctioned.

As per the power plant’s management, the electrical maintenance work is underway on an emergency basis.

Earlier on January 3, several districts across the country faced power outages after three units of the same plant tripped. The tripping led to an immediate shortfall of 747MW of electricity

According to reports, the prime reason for the incident was dense fog.
