FAISALABAD: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) has announced to observe ‘Sisters Day’ on February 14 [Valentine’s Day] with an aim to “promote eastern culture and Islamic traditions” among the youth.

“The varsity is planning to distribute scarves, shawls and gowns printed with UAF insignia among female students on the day because we are enriched with our culture, norms, and Islamic values,” Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa said while announcing the event.

“In our culture, women are more empowered and earn due respect as sisters, mothers, daughters and wives,” he said and added that people were forgetting their culture whereas western culture was rooting in the society.

The vice chancellor further said that preservation of culture was essential to maintain dignity in the world and youngsters must devote their energies towards education as well as knowledge.
