Gen Bajwa urges businessmen to assist in economic stability

ISLAMABAD: A delegation of business community met Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Karachi on Friday.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), COAS apprised the business community about improved security situation of the country, especially in Karachi. He asserted that the business community has played a vital role in restoring peace in the port city. The business class should work for the economic stability of the country while taking advantage of the peaceful environment, he urged.

The business community acknowledged Pakistan Army’s efforts in bringing about a secure environment for increased business opportunities in the country. They pledged that the business community shall contribute their critical bit in strengthening the economic capacity of the country.

On January 4, COAS visited the head office of Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) in Islamabad where he was briefed on the company’s management and performance in related fields. The army chief appreciated contributions of the company towards the national economy especially their plans for diversifying business and contributing back to society in education and sports. Upon arrival, COAS was received by MPCL Managing Director Lieutenant General (r) Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmed.

On December 13, 2018, COAS visited the Thar coal project where he was given a detailed briefing on the progress of the pilot projects.

Talking on the occasion, he said that the internal security situation of Pakistan had largely improved paving way for foreign investment. “We will continue to play our part in ensuring a secure environment for business and entrepreneurship in Pakistan by both local and foreign investors,” he added. Upon his arrival, Fauji Fertilizer Company Managing Director Lieutenant General (r) Tariq Khan received the army chief.
