CM Buzdar takes notice of elderly man locked up for placing hand on lady cop’s head


LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Friday took notice of a 70-year-old man being locked up for placing his hand on Pakpattan DPO Maria Mahmood’s head and also sought a report on the matter from Sahiwal’s Regional Police Officer (RPO).

He further directed the RPO to investigate the incident and submit a report within 48 hours. In addition to that, a video of the incident also went viral on social media, in which Mahmood can be heard telling the 70-year-old Anjuman-e-Tajran President Sufi Muhammad Rasheed, “I am only respecting you because of your age.”

Traders had protested over Mahmood’s reaction following which Rasheed was released.

Earlier, DPO Maria Mahmood, who was present for an open court hearing was irked when Rasheed placed his hand on her head. Following that, she told off the elderly man and officials shifted him to a station.

A case was registered against Rasheed by the SHO.
