KARACHI: The Sindh Information Department said on Friday that the relief activities in Tharparkar district were being continued as 453 children, including infants and those from one to five-years-old, were brought to Out-Patient Departments of the district and taluka hospitals of Tharparkar district.
He informed that initially, 29 children were admitted to the hospitals for treatment and later on, 38 were discharged from the hospital as they got better after receiving immediate and proper treatment.
Furthermore, the DC told that 735 children were also treated in OPDs of 31 BHUs and 18 government dispensaries which are under the administrative control of PPHI. Besides, he informed that the Livestock Department through its transitory camps treated 174 unwell animals and vaccinated 7306 others as per precautionary measures.
He said that the Population Welfare Department of Tharparkar district through its transitory camps extended awareness amongst the women of the various villages about the family planning and other programs. He said that free wheat was being provided across the district and 7,004 families were provided with wheat under Phase –III today.
Furthermore, he informed that 233 families of Phase –II were given 50 kg wheat bags while two families, who had not collected their wheat bags earlier in Phase-I, also approached their respective sentinel points and collected wheat bags. Up until now, 247,090 families in Phase –I, 251,567 families in Phase-II and 56016 families in Phase-III have received wheat bags at the scale of 50 kg, the DC informed.
The deputy commissioner further informed that the provision of family ration bags to pregnant and lactating women also continued as well in the district, and 357 bags were distributed today in the second phase amongst the registered PLW at their doorsteps. Thus so far, 64,442 bags had been distributed in Phase –II and 36656 bags stand already distributed in Phase-I, he said.
