Three WAPDA employees suspended after death of 2 linemen in one month

HARIPUR: An officer of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) along with two other employees was suspended over negligence after the death of two linemen due to electrocution in different areas of the district during a single month.

The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) chief and WAPDA chairman had taken the notice of deaths of two young employees, including Assistant Lineman Akhtar Nawaz and Assistant Lineman Jawad Ali, in separate incidents of electrocution during repair and maintenance work in different areas of Haripur.

The citizens, lauding the action against the WAPDA employees over negligence, demanded of the authorities concerned for measures to ensure protection for lives of employees during repair and maintenance work and financial assistance to those who died in the line of duty.
