LAHORE: Indian Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh on Thursday said that Pakistani people would continue to watch Indian shows despite the ban imposed by the country.
He was responding to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar’s order of not airing Indian content on any television channel which was passed on Wednesday. “We will not allow Indian content to be aired on Pakistani channels as it ‘damages our culture,” the CJP had said.
“Indian content must be banned as they are shutting down our dams,” the CJP added.
“Let the Pakistan judge opine whatever he wants, have people stopped seeing? People to people contact won’t end with one man’s statement,” Singh told the Indian media.
“People-to-people contact won’t end with one man’s statement,” he added.
The CJP’s remarks had come during the hearing of a case pertaining to airing foreign content on private TV channels. Many local television channels broadcast international content from countries including Turkey and India.
