ISLAMABAD: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Wednesday informed the Supreme Court (SC) that it has suspended the licences of 16 pilots and 65 cabin crew members for allegedly holding fake degrees.
As a three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, heard the case regarding fake degrees of pilots and crew members, CAA’s lawyer informed the court that the degrees of 16 pilots and 65 crew members were found to be fabricated, therefore, their licences had also been suspended.
“We have verified the degrees of everyone except for six people because they are abroad,” he said. “Pilots have the right to appeal the suspension of their licences,” the CAA’s counsel noted.
Meanwhile, a dismissed pilot told the court that he was hired on an FSc degree, but his services were terminated over an allegedly fake BSc degree.
On this, the chief justice said, “The impression is that action is being taken in haste over the court order. We do not want to halt anyone’s source of income but we will not allow anyone to continue their work with fake academic degrees.”
CJP Nisar maintained that if anyone has any issues then they should approach the relevant forum for appeal.
The apex court then wrapped up the case, stating the degrees of 16 pilots and 65 crew members were found to be fake.
