ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Interior on Monday recommended public hanging for the rapist of three-year-old girl Faryal in Abbottabad.
Committee Chairman Senator Rehman Malik chaired the meeting.
“The committee had proposed that the government executes the rapist in public and is currently waiting for a response,” Malik said.
State Minister for Interior Shehryar Afridi, also appeared before the committee and agreed with the stance saying, “The culprit should be given an exemplary punishment.”
On January 5, District Police Officer Abbas Majeed Marwat said, “The blood samples of over 270 suspected people had been sent to a forensic lab in Lahore for DNA test but, they did not match with the samples collected from the crime scene.”
Furthermore, he said that the blood samples of 20 more people who had stayed as guests in the village had also been sent to the lab.
Earlier, a three-year-old girl, identified as Faryal went missing after she left her home to play with the other children in the neighbourhood on December 25. Her body was found in an isolated place two days later.
On January 4, the suspected rapist and murderer of an eight-year-old girl in Nowshera confessed to his crime before an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).
Police presented 21-year-old Yasir before the court after completion of his physical remand, where he confessed to the felony before the ATC judge and was then sent to prison on a judicial remand until the next hearing.
