Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed on Sunday said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif is seeking amnesty under the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and being the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is a part of his plan.
Speaking in a television programme, the railways minister challenged Shehbaz to a faceoff on television where he would prove that “Shehbaz was seeking an NRO and being the PAC chairman is part of his plan”.
Rasheed also said that does not agree with Prime Minister Imran Khan on the issue of PAC chairmanship and this is the beauty of “Naya Pakistan”. He further said that he would pursue the matter in the Supreme Court (SC) as he had been present during the proceedings of the Panama Papers case.
Shehbaz was elected as the chairman of the apex committee of the National Assembly unopposed on December 21 while he was still in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a corruption case.
