6000 artists to benefit from health card: Chohan

RAWALPINDI: Minister for Information and Culture Fayyazul Hassan Chohan has said that six thousand artists from all over Punjab will get health card containing Rs.0.4 million on merit.

He stated this while addressing at the inaugural ceremony of painting exhibition arranged by Rawalpindi Arts Council and Knowledge Art Academy in which 76 new artists participated with more than 160 art pieces.

Chohan has said that the health card would be distributed among six thousand artists in which expenses up to Rs0.4 million incurred on in case of illness of artist and his family would be borne by the government.

He also said that Voice of Punjab was going to start in February with four stations Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan and Lahore in which twenty singers will be selected from each station and the final competition will be held in Lahore.

He termed the competition different of its kind from other competitions. He said that on the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and under the dynamic leadership of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar the government would launch revolutionary programmes for the benefit of artists and the general community.

Naheed Manzoor addressing at the occasion said that arts council has always provided a platform to young artists. All the artists have used oil on paint as the medium of instructions and showcased different subjects like landscape, figurative arts, abstract art, calligraphy, and modern art. The exhibition will be opened to the general public for three days.
