LAHORE: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government will not compromise on the ongoing accountability process in the country.
Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, Fawad said that the masses gave them their mandate to hold “all the corrupt accountable” and added that the government would not betray its voters.
He said that the country was heading towards progress and prosperity under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The minister mentioned that PM Imran visited Saudi Arabia, UAE and other countries to bring investment.
Fawad slammed the previous governments of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for “destroying the state institutions by political appointments and corruption”.
The minister was of the view that the PTI government had inherited “financially empty institutions”, asserting that the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) among other institutions were destroyed by the previous governments. “When institutions go down, the country goes down too,” he added.
Earlier, on December 24, Prime Minister Imran Khan had maintained his resolve for an effective and transparent accountability process in the country.
While chairing a high-level meeting of the party leaders in the federal capital, he had said, “We will not compromise on the process of accountability, the process will continue across the board,” calling it necessary for the country’s progress.
